Why Emergency First Response?
Emergency First Response gives you the tools you need to perform CPR and First Aid. Emergency First Response prepares you to properly handle potentially life-threatening situations. Classes include AED training.

What is an AED?
An AED is an Automated External Defibrillator. It is a key to saving a person having a heart attack. Check out this information - Training Key to Defibrillator Success.

What will I do?
This comprehensive program is composed of two core modules that are taught in tandem: Emergency First Response - Primary Care and Emergency First Response - Secondary Care. Together, these courses proved extensive instruction in CPR and First Aid, as well as providing Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Primary Care and Emergency First Response will train you to do an initial assessment of the scene and provide care for in potentially life-threatening situations. Secondary Care will address first aid for common problems, including splinting, bandaging, and other basic skills. CPR and AED for children and infants is also available as an additional module. This is great for parents with young children, coaches, and day care staff.

How long is the class?
Classes run four to six hours depending on the size and past experience of the students in the class. Time is taken to answer all the student’s questions and make sure everyone is comfortable with the skills. The class is performance based, not time based.

How many students in a class?
Classes range from 1 to 24 students. Assistants are used as class size grows. Normally there is one manikin for each two or three students. This allows the students to work in small teams and support each other. The instructor can also monitor the progress and skills of each student.

How long is the certification good for?
The certification is good for two years for both the CPR and the Basic First Aid. The class is normally taught with both CPR and First Aid but the class can be tailored to meet your needs. Only CPR or only First Aid is an option. The use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is always taught as part of the CPR class at no additional charge.

Who have we trained?
This class has been used by various state and federal agencies, doctor’s offices, day cares, construction contractors, guides, and individuals to meet regulatory, insurance, and other training requirements for CPR and Basic First Aid.

Businesses and Government Agencies
This class can be taught at your work place for your staff. It meets the needs for basic first aid and CPR requirements. We can set up classes to meet your schedule and training needs. The flexibility of the program is ideal for training day care providers.

Class Size CPR/AED & First Aid CPR/AED Only First Aid Only
1 to 4 Students $85 $55 $45
5 to 10 Students $80 $50 $40
Greater than 10 $75 $45 $35

Are Instructors aware of the Alaskan environment?
Our instructors have worked in Alaska and Antarctica for combined experience of over 50 years. They are familiar with the extreme environments and remoteness of many work locations throughout Alaska. This makes it possible for instructors to relate the training to the Alaskan work environment.

What other classes do you offer?
Child and Infant CPR/AED is available as an add-on to the class or as a stand alone class with or without First Aid.
