Test The Waters offers SCUBA training from introductory courses including Snorkeling and Discover SCUBA Diving through to PADI's world recognised and respected professional certifications including Dive Master and Assistant Instructor.  We also offer numerous specialty courses including the very popular Dry Suit Diving, Ice Diving, Enriched Air (or Nitrox as some call it), and Altitude Diving!

Our Open Water SCUBA class is structured with Alaskans in mind.  We know that certain dark, cold times of the year many of us head out to warmer climates so our course is divided into 2 sections: SCUBA ONE, which is the book and pool portion of the course and Open Water II which is performed in either a lake or pond here in the interior or during the months the water around Fairbanks is a bit hard we journey to either Valdez or Whittier.  Both courses are required to obtain PADI SCUBA certification however students have one year from the onset of training to complete the course and may perform the SCUBA TWO portion anywhere in the world, this is called a referral and many folks choose this option and complete their training in glorious warm water destinations!  Test The Waters is happy to help recommend facilities and locations for students to complete their dives.  Test The Waters also provides the opportunity for travel with us which can provide a substantial savings to those who choose to join us on these amazing adventures!  See the SCUBA Travel section to check out where we are off to next!

Here are some of our course prices and descriptions:

Discover Scuba Diving $99.00
The PADI Discover Scuba Diving program lets you experience the thrill of diving under the supervision of a PADI Professional in pool or pool-like conditions. During your adventure, you'll master some basic concepts and scuba skills and might even head off to experience an open water adventure.  When you sign up for the PADI Open Water Scuba Course within a few weeks of taking Discover Scuba, Test The Waters will apply your $99 towards the cost of the Open Water Course.

Scuba Review $65.00
Are you a certified diver, but haven't been in the water lately? Are you looking to refresh your dive skills and knowledge? Are you a PADI Scuba Diver or referral student diver and want to earn your PADI Open Water Diver certification? If you answered yes to any of these questions then PADI Scuba Review is for you.

 OPEN WATER SCUBA CERTIFICATION:

SCUBA ONE: $299.00

Your first step into exploring the other 3/4 of the planet!  Open Water SCUBA ONE includes the book and pool portion of SCUBA training and is the first requirement toward full certification.  For the book portion of the course, students complete the 5 knowledge reviews at their own pace at home then come to TTW for review of the homework and complete 4 quizzes and a final exam.  Students call to arrange a time to meet with an instructor to review and proctor the exams.  PADI also provides an online "e'learning" option which costs a bit more but allows students to complete the homework and tests online so for those tight on time or driving from distant locations this is an easy solution!  The Pool portion of the Open Water SCUBA course usually consists of 4* pool sessions,  conducted at Westcott pool at North Pole Middle School and is offered on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30pm.  We know how busy many of you are so offer the flexibility of scheduling Pool courses to your needs so if you can only come on Monday nights, we will see you on Mondays!

NOTE:  Students are responsible for providing their personal gear such as mask, snorkel, fins, and boots. Test The Waters offers expert fitting, advice and selection of these items.  Students receive a discount on the purchase of their personal gear and the peace of mind that what they have purchased suits their budget and needs!

SCUBA TWO: $299.00
The second portion of your open water dive certification completes the minimum of four required open water dives* and enables you to receive your certification. You can complete SCUBA TWO here in Fairbanks, on one of our trips to Valdez or Whittier, or as a referral to a PADI dive center anywhere around the world.

*We at Test The Waters feel very strongly that safety comes first!!! Although SCUBA Diving is safer than golfing, (really...look up the statistics), we want you to be thoroughly prepared for any situation that may arise on your diving adventures therefore the number of dives both in the pool and in open water may vary based on your comfort and safety level as a diver.

ADVANCED SCUBA CERTIFICATION: $349.00
Move up and experience real adventure with the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course. As you step beyond the PADI Open Water Diver level, you make five dives and have the opportunity to try some of diving's most rewarding and useful specialty activities, such as deep diving, night diving, navigation, altitude diving, search and rescue diving and much more!!!.

RESCUE SCUBA DIVER WITH EFR CERTIFICATION: $349.00
Our Rescue Diver Course broadens your focus as a diver. It prepares you in dive emergency prevention and teaches techniques for managing dive emergencies.
Emergency First Response, (EFR) gives you the tools you need to perform CPR.
